About
My name is Mark McLawhorn. I was born outside of Wilmington, NC in the 1970s, but grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Interested all my life in art, I moved to Raleigh, NC to attend the College of Design at North Carolina State University.
While in school, I worked at Technician, NC State’s student-run newspaper in every position from cartooning to advertising to design to Editor in Chief.
I still contribute an editorial illustration every Friday during the normal school year.
I currently work for the Office of Public Affairs at NC State University, and freelance both with mercury7design and the Achillian Graphics Company.

Hi, Mark! I am Eric Smith’s mom–Sue–and I totally remember you and how phenomenally talented you always were. I didn’t know you were in this area. I work as an Admissions Officer for the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke, and live in Cary. I always thought of you as so artistic, so I’m really glad to see you’re still creating.
